The context: an emergency case

Located in the middle of the Region Rhone-Alpes, teh department of Isère has known a serious development since a few years: hosting more than 1 million people with a density of 158 inhabitants per km², the urbanization has increased and its infrastructures (300km of motorways, 13.240km of roads, 480km of railways) too.

The department has more than 1.000ha of quarry and has lost more than 50% of its damp zones and alluvial forests in 20 years. That's why a new project is being launched to protect the alluvial forest along the river of Isere.

The valley of teh Grésivaudan is enclosed between the 3 massifs of Chartreuse, Belledonne and Vercors. It can't obviously extend, that's why this area is subject to a high speculation in land. A risk of conurbanization between Grenoble and Chambéry could result if we don't waych out.

The project "Paths of life" stretches from the high Grésivaudan to the cluse of Voreppe for 70km. During this project numerous actions will take place: creation of underpasses, setting up of thermal detectors but also animations towards the public schools, meetings with the technical services of the communes and with the managers of the infrastructures about the sustainable management.
