In 2001 the general council appointed a swiss research department Econat to establish the well-know REDI or ecological network of the Department Isère, based on the matrix used in Switzerland (the REN).
This methodology is based on a theoritical modelling of teh land structure, remarkable biotopes, continuums and corridors, as well as a process of validation by the experts (farmers, hunters, natural experts,...).
a synthesis map of the ecological network has been made of from the gathering of information and gives information on different levels: the major reservoirs, the protected areas on the national level and the forestry, aquatic and meadows continuums.
But most important this map helps us to scale the various migration axes of the fauna and gives us information about obstacles and conflict points.
In addition to the fragmentation of the space and the discontinuity of the continuums, the fauna has to face in the corridors itself or inside the continuums other obstacles that, depending on their importance, have consequences on the migration's axes.
Following the establishment of the REDI, 10 conflict points have been prioritized. Some have already been treated : the underpasses of Bonnefamille and of the Grand Lemps.

Today the project Paths of life will treat 2 major conflict areas: the valley of Gresivaudan and the cluse of Voreppe.
| As to spread the REDI, the CD-Rom has been sent to all specialised research departments in touch with the general council and is available at the environment department of the general council. A form is also delivered within the CD-Rom in order to keep our data bases updated and to collaborate with the public. |
